What is a cake smash session?
A cake smash is a playful photoshoot where your little one meets their first cake and is free to explore it. We usually start with a few clean portraits, then bring out the cake, and often finish with a quick bath or splash for adorable, clean-up photos.
Studio themes or outdoor birthday shoots
In our Houston studio, we create themed setups with balloons, letters and decor in your favorite colors. Prefer the outdoors? An outdoor birthday session in a park or garden is perfect for families who love natural light and greenery.
When to book
Most families schedule the session a week or two before the first birthday, so photos are ready for invitations, party decor or sharing on the big day. Book a few weeks ahead to secure your preferred date.
What to bring
- A simple outfit (or two) that matches your theme
- Extra diapers, wipes and a change of clothes
- A favorite snack and toy
- Your own cake, if you have dietary preferences. Just let us know in advance.
Tips for a happy baby
- Schedule around naps. A rested baby is a smiley baby.
- Feed your baby shortly before the session.
- Stay relaxed. Babies pick up on our mood, and we will take breaks whenever needed.
